Foundation of the European Network for Public Ethics

On 9 and 10 November 2022, representatives of authorities from eleven EU Member States met in Zagreb to launch the European Network for Public Ethics (ENPE).

After the joint declaration on the creation of the European Network for Public Ethics had been adopted in Paris in June 2022, representatives of the participating anti-corruption authorities met in Zagreb in November 2022 to ratify the charter and establish the network.

The Federal Bureau of Anti-Corruption (BAK) participated in the two-day conference as one of the eleven founding members. Initial steps were developed for the expansion and visibility of the network as well as for the future provision of specific expertise.

In the future, the ENPE will act as a point of contact for European authorities with regard to integrity, transparency and public ethics. The aim of the network is to promote a culture of public integrity and the harmonisation of standards, guidelines and laws in the European Union. This is to be done primarily through mutual exchange between members, identifying best practices and comparing respective legislation.
