BAK delegation at ENPE conference in Rome
The annual conference of the European Network for Public Ethics (ENPE) took place in Rome on 10 and 11 October 2024. As a founding member of the network, the Federal Bureau of Anti-Corruption (BAK) was represented at the conference.
‘Preventing corruption in Europe: a new perspective’ was the title of the conference, and the organisers were the Italian National Anti-Corruption Agency (ANAC). The ENPE secretariat presented the results of an analysis of the member countries with regard to handling the issue of conflicts of interest, including the different means of detecting them, implementing preventive measures and imposing various types of sanctions in the event of conflicts of interest.
Giuseppe Busìa (ANAC) was elected as the new ENPE President. The main objective of his mandate is to strengthen European citizens’ trust in public institutions.
As a result of the conference, the ‘Rome Declaration’ was adopted with final effect. Among other things, the declaration emphasises support for the EU Anti-Corruption Directive and calls for the strengthening of independence of national anti-corruption authorities.
