Working visit of a Lebanese delegation to the BAK

On 30 May 2018, a five-person delegation from Lebanon visited the Austrian Federal Bureau of Anti-Corruption (BAK) in the framework of the project "Integrated Border Management in Lebanon" (IBM Lebanon), which is co-financed by the EU. The delegates were accompanied by a representative of the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD).

The IBM Lebanon project is implemented by ICMPD and is aimed at providing Lebanon with technical support for the development of an efficient and coordinated border management system. The intention of this work meeting was to inform the Lebanese representatives about Austrian standards and practices in the field of preventing and combating corruption.

The Director of BAK welcomed the guests and explained the Bureau’s structure, legal basis and tasks. Furthermore, the delegation was given an insight into the BAK’s activities related to the prevention of corruption. Finally, operational methods and resources as well as the BAK’s reporting system were presented.

The Lebanese guests showed particular interest in the Bureau’s operational work and the Code of Conduct, which was developed in 2010 by the Austrian Federal Ministry of the Interior, with the involvement of the BAK, on the basis of international requirements.
