Participation of the BAK in the virtual country visit as part of the UNCAC review of Austria

From 8 to 10 March 2022, the virtual country visit of Austria took place in the framework of the mechanism for the review of implementation of chapters II on preventive measures and V on asset recovery of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC).

The completed Austrian self-assessment checklist had been submitted to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in December 2019. The BAK was intensively involved in this process, particularly in the chapter on prevention. In a next step, referred to as the desk review, the representatives of the peer reviewer countries decided by lots, Germany and Vietnam, examined the responses and documents provided by Austria. Due to the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic, the on-site visit originally planned for 2020 had to be postponed and was now carried out virtually from 8 to 10 March 2022.

During this virtual country visit of Austria, experts from various ministries answered supplementary questions from the German and Vietnamese delegations and the UNODC in direct dialogue.
